TNMOC: The age of Personal Computing

Source:  TNMOC

The National Museum of Computing (TNMOC) has an extensive collection of old hardware from the big iron room size mainframes to pocket sized and handheld devices.

In this day and age, when the latest Samsung S20 is many, many times more powerful than the Apollo Guidance Computer and the IBM System/360 that were used to put man on the Moon, it is easy to forget the impact of older technology. This image shows a selection of 数字货币home and personal computers in the TNMOC’s collection.

Computer Weekly is keen to hear from our readers about their first experiences of computing. Was it a Tandy TRS-80, a BBC Model B, a Commodore Pet, a, a  PDP-11, a  System/390, or something else? Please email csaran@techtarget.com with the subject line my first computer and tell us a bit about what it was and what you used it for.

From August 19, 2020, people will be able to experience the TNMOC's virtual exhibition and interactive, guided tour.

More info on the virtual tour can be found here >>
